New Home Boys Basketball has established itself as one of the premier programs in West Texas, capturing 10 consecutive district championships and earning UIL State Tournament appearances in the 2023, 2024, and 2025 seasons. These accomplishments are a testament to the commitment, discipline, and selflessness that have defined the program for years.
Meet The Coaches
Braeden Jones is entering his 8th year in education and coaching. His only previous stop was Southland, where he was the head basketball coach for 3 seasons. He has been the assistant coach in New Home for the last 4 years and is beginning his first season as Head Coach of the Leopards. He and his wife Abbie have one child in Heaven (Jackson) and recently just welcomed Jace into the world this summer. Coach Jones looks forward to pouring into young men while coaching the sport that he is very passionate about.
Jaren Shipp is beginning his 5th year of coaching and his first year at New Home ISD. He will serve as an assistant coach in the boys basketball program as well as the head golf coach. Prior to joining New Home, Coach Shipp spent four years at Idalou ISD, where he assisted with football, basketball, and track. Coach Shipp is originally from Littlefield, Texas, and is a graduate of Angelo State University. He and his wife, Kristin, have two beautiful daughters, Kennedy (8) and Katy (6).
Tanner Mudd is starting his 6th year of teaching and coaching, all of which have been with New Home ISD. Coach Mudd coaches Football, Basketball and Baseball. He graduated High School from Frenship ISD and got his Bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University.
Tanner and his wife Lacie have two beautiful children, Riley (6), Jackson (4), and Hunter (Newborn).
